I used to be able to walk up steps with the walk tool, with the camera rising by each step (unless they were too high). However, with the new version of sketchup (2023.1) the camera just stops, as if there was a wall, even if the step is only 10 cm tall. I have tried with the web app, and it is also not working. Did anyone else notice this?
this is working like normal in sketchup 2024.
Something similar is happening to me, and I’ve got sketchup 2024. I even compared it with SketchUp 2022 with the same model, and indeed the walk tool works different and not in a good way.
There was a version of 2023 that had problems with the walk tool, but the latest 2023 and the current 2024, seem to work ok.
Try this model, and see if you can walk up the steps, which are 12 inches tall.

actualy, I tried again and noticed that this problem is still in 2024. I have tried with colin’s file, and the problem is still there. I have noticed that if i am walking at an angle, the problem happens much less.
The 2024 has a new 3D engine or whatever, which improves the overall speed of the model maneuverability, and the increased clunkiness of the walk tool in the 2024 version is probably an unintended side-effect of it that has yet to be fixed.
I did try my example with the new graphics engine, and it still worked ok for me.
But did you try the walk tool with 2 versions of the same model, one in Sketchup2024 and the other in in Sketchup2022 or earlier, preferably a model with both terrain and stairs?
