Cannot alter text style(s) without text being changed

If I drag to highlight text then go to ‘Text Style’ and type into any of the style options such as ‘Family’ or ‘Size’ to input changes to the highlighted text, whatever I type changes the highlighted text to whatever I type.

Example; If I try to change the text size to something smaller than 6, it must be manually input, which changes the highlighted text to whatever number I enter. Same goes for the font type.

This only began occurring after updating to 26.1.256.

This has been reported and hopefully they will fix it. That said, there’s no need to select the text in the text box or even open the text box to change the font to something else.

Ok that’s good to hear, thanks. And yes, there is a reason; try adding some text below your sample and make it a different font size (less than 6) and show how you would do that. If you try to search for a font type, whatever you type will overwrite the highlighted text which means scrolling through hundreds of fonts. Nothing crippling but, it is a bug nonetheless.

Here is opening the text box, selecting the text, searching for a new font and switching to it. Then adding a new line of text, making it 4 pt. and changing it to by searching. That works as expected for me.

Thanks for the tip but, I have dozens of headings/subheadings and I now to wish to modify all the subheadings to a different font and size, this would require me to type all of that out again and pre-select the font and size before typing. I’ll just have to wait for the bug fix. Not super important at them moment but definitely a tad frustrating.

Your profile says you are using SketchUp for Schools which is a web-based version for school aged children and has no access to LayOut. You also show 2024 Desktop which won’t be getting anymore updates

Did DaveR mention this… 2026.2 has been released.

I have tried to understand your issue and replicate it but I can’t – I’m using 2026.2.

But hey that’s not to say 2026.2 doesn’t have some very annoying bugs!
