Can I check individual face/group/component memory size within SU make without leaving the program?

I can get the total size of the model from ‘get info’ on my Mac and the idividual components via components>open a local collection but is there any way I can check it within the model itself?

If I understand your question, I don’t think there is any way in any version of SketchUp to get a report of the amount of memory occupied by any element of the model. One can get edge and face counts, which are a gauge of complexity, but not memory amount per-se.
