We see a lot of postings here about inability to open damaged files. Currently SketchUp just says it can’t open the file, without giving even a hint as to why. It would be great if there was an external utility or built-in capability that would provide more info as to what is wrong with the file and, if at all possible, what partial contents are recoverable. The file format is proprietary, so this isn’t something we can create for ourselves.
