Bezier Tool - Extension Manager Message

I keep getting the following error as shown for the Bezier Tool. I cannot
update or uninstall either. I thought this would go away from 2022,2023, but
it’s hanging around in 2024? Missing file permission is a mystery since this is the
only extension that gives this message.

On SU startup a popup states:
Bezier Message

I’m on the latest Windows 2024 SU Pro version

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Open the extensions manager, click on the gear icon

Select unrestricted

I selected Unrestricted, closed /opened SU. Did not work. Update gives the following message:

Not sure what file permission is missing? All of the other extensions are fine.

Did you try updating the extension like it is telling you to do?

BTW, please update your forum profile. It says you are using SketchUp 2018.

Dave, thanks for the response. I’ve updated my profile. Ok, I just did an update to the Bezier tool.

  • I had version 1.1.0, so now it is 1.1.1
  • The error message went away
  • Oddly, after a restart Extension Manager still displays 1.1.0
  • Uninstall is greyed out as it was before the update so the tool cannot be removed

The extension mentions that it’s not verified for 2024 so I’m not going to beat a dead horse here if of course it’s a glitch on my end.

I haven’t used that old extension for a number of years. I have Bezier Spline and Fredospline which both do much more than just draw Bezier curves and the curves they make are editable.

Anyway, I just installed the Bezier Tool you show using the Extension Warehouse UI in SU 2024. It shows the correct version number and it works fine despited not being marked compatible with SU 2024. That compatibility indication is often not accurate because authors are sometimes slow to update them after a new version of SketchUp is released.

When you installed Sketchup did you do so correctly? That requires right clicking on the installer and choosing run as administrator. If you don’t do that Windows may not grant the proper permissions for writing files. You might quit Sketchup, find the installer in your Downloads folder, right click on it, choose run as administrator and then choose the repair option. After it completes, do a power off reboot of your computer and then restart and open Sketchup. Maybe things will have updated.

Also, have you looked in the Draw menu for Bezier Curve?

I did not do “Run as Administrator” on this latest 2024 SU version. I’ll give it try although I was just
trying to eliminate that extension error. Yes, the tool is in the Draw menu and works.
