Arcwalde's Robot Sketchup Gallery

Something I built in Sketchup Pro 2021 during my off-time from my subscription:

Having some fun with old models using the new PBR materials:

These look great. The sunset effect lighting is really dramatic.

A mass production and commander/ace variant of the Maxwell Armature, the Richter and Richter Alt.

The current line-up of Armatures using the AM4 Basis (Newton), playing around with the PBR materials. Made some scripts using ChatGPT to quickly swap in and out normal maps, PBR settings, and a color replacement tool, making it easy to quickly apply the settings to all the units

The whole sci-fi ship thing from a month or so back inspired me to complete a colony ship I had been working on but stopped quite some time back.

Tried to use normal maps to give it a kind of slightly worn feel.

Used a bit of AI finagling with this one, just for the backgrounds and foreground characters to try and do something more with the model:

Still need to try and get better with scenes like this.

Finally decided to print out one of my robots, and print it out huge. 1/48 scale of the Laplace in progress (The waist and left thigh keeps on splitting on the resin printer, so need to work in some better supports to try and keep that from failing… just waiting for more resin to try lol).

Nintendo switch controllers and solo cup for size comparison haha:

I didn’t print this with full articulation. Just printed it in sections that I can piece together and make a sort of large figure with. Would’ve taken too long to redesign with full articulation in mind lol.

A bit of the ways into 2026 so finally decided to start working on a new model. Trying something a bit different with this one in terms of style.

Not going for an inner frame this time, and also mixing together rounded and sharp edges. Also I gave it eyeballs… centered the xyz axis and set them to always face camera, so they kind of track you as you orbit around the model, though the pitching of the component leaves much to be desired the yaw is just fine.

I’ve done nested faceme components to get two axes to work, but when I tried a third, it didn’t work reliably. Also, for the last couple versions of SU, the second of two axes ones wouldn’t update automatically – only when you go to edit something. It might be just new graphics engine, but I don’t remember for sure now.

Yeah, I noticed sometimes I had to “click” on the group the eyes were nested in (the head), or hit space bar, to get the components to start “tracking” the camera. Otherwise they would get stuck in super awkward positions lol.
