ARC-tool problem

Hello, my name is Will and I’m from the Netherlands.
I’m using Windows 11 with SketchUp Pro 2025.
I’m running into the following problem.

I’m trying to make a 90° corner block using a profile I created myself.
I’m using the Arc tool and the Follow Me tool.
As you can see in the photo, this does not result in a 90° angle.
It doesn’t align with the green axis or the red axis.
What am I doing wrong?

Best regards,
Will

No image but we all know the issue.
Follow me starts and ends perpendicular to the first and last segments of the arc, so it is easiest to draw your arc as a circle, rotate it half a segment then cut off the parts you don’t want, then use that as your path.

Here’s a rough example of what I mean.

OOOO ok I give it a try, Thanks

Well, I’ve tried it in all kinds of ways,
but the result remains the same — unfortunately still no 90° corner.
I must still be doing something wrong.

No axes :head_shaking_vertically:

Have you tried using a circle instead of an arc and then deleting three of the 4 sections to be left with the desired quarter?

Yes, I tried that as well.
I end up with a quarter circle on which I place the profile.
When I then use the Follow Me tool, it works neatly.
But when I place the result on the axes, it still deviates from 90°.

This profile is what I use :head_shaking_vertically:

Make sure you draw the circle on axis and rotate by half a segment.

Using that method with your profile I get this.

Wauw, will try again now :+1:

Done with yours. Note I lifted the profile up slightly so the circle is not connected.

Thank you all for the suggested solutions, I’m going to work with them. :+1:
I’ll let you know whether I managed to get it right.
I thought I was fairly comfortable with the software, but I’m realizing there’s still a lot to learn.:head_shaking_vertically:

Yessss, it worked!
I don’t know how many attempts I made — nothing worked.
I now see that I was thinking way too complicated.
I sincerely thank you all for the explanation,
I’ve learned something new again. :+1: :+1:

plan B, valid with all follow me, is to extend a bit the start and end with a straight line. because these two extremities can be adjusted using pushpull at the end.

it adds some cleanup after the operation but that way you know all your arcs are always true.
