Apple Macbook Pro m4 Pro - inadequate GPU?

Model is cut and people look all wonky, crashes almost everytime I open it. Expensive new (in March) Macbook Pro Apple M4 Pro chip - with ‘Metal 4’ built in GPU or no GPU seems like. Do I go back to apple and upgrade to I don’t know what (I need Logic pro on machine)? I had pacbook pro from 2018 with own graphics card performed so much better than this… apple not improving tech…

There are a lot of people using M4 Macs for SketchUp with great success, so there must be something going on that is specific to either your setup or your model. Can you share a model here so that we can inspect it to see if we find anything out of whack?

My suspicion is that the model or parts of it are very far from the model origin point. That is the most common reason for these display artifacts.

yep. I’m on a m4 mac mini, and working on a 4-5km file right now, now issue. so it must be something really far.

and when it comes to performances, I have yet to use a PC that outperforms it.

Thank you all, I wish it could move it central to the origin, but loads of views set up by others with it in this location. But suspicious about the M4 pro GPU I don;t believe it working properly or I don;t know how to tweak the settings to make sketchup us it properly or invoke the right graphics performance from skp. if its even possible… but thanks all for feedback I will persist with the hardware. I know this model is a mess, and has been fiddled with to death by many…

well then

We do various tests on different platforms, and lately I’ve tested on M4. For the frames per second test my M4 usually is way higher than Windows or Intel Mac.

The problem is likely to be what Anssi said. You might get away with using the Axes tool to set the origin near the geometry, and not have to redo the scenes.
