Anyone see this with 3D mouse driver install

Dear All,

I know this is not a question specific to Sketchup, and I have contacted the 3dConnexion folks.

But, has anyone seen this when trying to install a 3Dconnexion driver?

We are seeing that as well. Follow the link. On that page are a couple of suggestions, the first of which didn’t help. The second approach needs admin access that we’re not given on our work machines.

I won’t get a chance to try it until next week, but then I will ask our IT to try the steps given on that page.

@TheOnlyAaron also has the problem, and may have found a solution before I do.

I have been in touch with 3Dconnexion as well about this… hoping to get ahold of someone on their support desk tomorrow. I will report back with any fix we come up with.

I got this email from 3Dconnexion:

To resolve the problem, please follow these steps:

  1. Force quit the installer by pressing [Command] + [Option] + [Esc] on your keyboard.

  2. Restore the 3Dconnexion folder from the Trash (right-click and select “Put Back”).

  3. Note: Do not rerun the installer at this stage.

  4. Run “Uninstall 3Dconnexion Driver” inside the 3Dconnexion folder.

  5. Reboot your system to complete the process.

  6. Install the latest version of 3DxWare from our website.

If you encounter any further issues, please contact our Technical Support team.

SOLUTION 2

Below you can find alternative instructions for recovering from the issue. However, please note that this requires some changes to the system. We do not take responsibility for any problems caused by these changes.

  1. Start or Reboot in Recovery Mode:

  2. Disable SIP (System Integrity Protection):

  3. Reboot. Boot into the system normally, do not go into Recovery Mode.

  4. Open Terminal:

    • Go to Applications > Utilities > Terminal
  5. Run this command:

    • sudo systemextensionsctl uninstall 9D93Y2RD6L com.3dconnexion.dext (Removes only the 3Dxconnexion extension; a reboot will be required later, see point 7)
  6. Check status with:

    • sudo systemextensionsctl list

    • No extension from 3Dconnexion shall be listed now

  7. Reboot your machine as required by step 5. and while doing so also re-enable SIP (see point 2).

  8. Install 3DxWare and follow the prompts for security and rebooting. Reboot and follow the prompt for the “Allow” button.

  9. Once completed, use the Guide in Step 2 to Re-enable SIP:

    • Check status in Terminal with following command: csrutil status (Should say “enabled”).

I got the driver to install. No idea if it works…

Which one did you do, the 1st or the 2nd? The 2nd is really technical.

I did the 2nd. The 1st was not available to me. It isn’t too bad. If anyone runs into problems DM me and I can talk you through it.

BTW, the driver WORKS!

Cheers, Chip

Mine has been working since beta just by copying the plugin folder over from 2025, but an updated driver would probably be the right and proper thing to do. For the time being, I’ll hang on to this until a problem emerges. It would occasionally cease working in beta, but so far seems ok on the release version.
