Animation fade

Is there a way to create a fade between two scenes? We’ve got loads of these animations coming up where we show an empty site and then fade into the proposals, as per this example…

It would be great not to have to do the fade in a video editor.

You could add scenes with fog in between. Seems like it would be easier to just add the transitions in a video editor, though.

Example: I didn’t work very hard on the fog settings between scenes but hopefully it gives the idea.

What editor would you use?

You’re welcome.

I use the video editor included with Camtasia because the vast majority of videos I record are screen captures from SketchUp and LayOut. It’s quite a powerful editor with a lot of options.

What this video shows is a simple cross dissolve transition. And agreed it would be nice it SU someday included this very basic and standard video editing function. Until then, you’ll have to export either as two animations and stitch together (in a video editor), or export as one, with a pause between scenes that you can use a split point to add the transition in.

Here’s a video that explains the process I describe (without going into the video editor that is).

Eric, Great tip thanks. I’m using one of your suggestions on all the models now. Works great!

I’m now struggling with a new problem (perhaps I need a new thread). My animations have a fuzzy bit in the first bit after we tart moving. No idea why. Happens on various computers and versions, and is still there when replaying from Vimeo or Youtube.

Here’s an example on Vimeo (from when it starts moving to about 15 seconds).

Thoughts welcome
