I made a castle ruin with landscape (in original dimensions, for example walls 30 m long and 20 m high). Now animate circling around the castle. This went well with a rather simple test model and Fred6 Animator. Now after further detailing, editing became slower and animation was no longer possible at all. (Model info: 410 edges, 231 faces, 286 component definitions, 605 materials).
What to do. Cleaning / resizing model or expanding PC capacity.
Use Windows 11 with CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X-8 cores-16 CPUs, RAM 32Gb (can be expanded to 128Gb), video card Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 28Gb. All DirectX features enabled.
Cleaning up the model to simplify it would help. Upgrading hardware would probably help. Faster CPU anyway. Number of cores is immaterial since SketchUp only uses one of them anyway. Changing the size (scale) of the model won’t help.
I bet those numbers are wrong.
Upgrade to the current version of SketchUp would probably help, too. It seems to handle larger files better.
if it takes 1sec between each scene, and 30img/s that’s already 1000 min
some years (a decade -_-) I had some architecture student who did a 15-20 min visit video of their project. they duplicated the file a few times, and exported parts of the video on each machine. then stitched it together in imovie
fredo 6 calculates number of frames depending on settings. The smoother specs the more frames. I changed some and now 500 frames for 20 sec clip. The final video clip will be approx. 2 minutes with multiple clips.
