Adding dimensions when creating a line

Is it possible when creating a line to add several numbers in a sum.
For instance when creating a line; 400+500+900 and it will create a line with a lenght of 1800.
I know this feature when you use solidworks or onshape.

If I understand you correctly, you want to write equations in the Measurements window. Is that correct? If so, SketchUp isn’t designed for that. You could make three contiguous edges at the desired lengths.

Or to stay with (and end up with just) one edge:

  • draw an edge the length of 400
  • move one of its endpoints along the edge’s direction by distance 500
  • repeat moving the endpoint along the same direction by 900.

Result: edge length = 1800

That is correct.
But if you make three different lines and make a shape out of them, by pulling the shape you will see the points extrude. And you have to remove them separately. I was hoping there was a solution for that or a plugin.

My alternative is to make those separate lines and make a separate line next to them with the total length. Then you don’t have to delete any more lines when extruding the shape.

Once you’ve finished drawing the line you can select it all - then right click and choose ‘weld edges’.

’ Weld’ keeps the segments as a straight curve.
My solution above (not that much work) results in one edge. You have to type numbers, either way.

also, both on mac and pc there is a calculator.

I know it’s not what you hoped for but… it does the job.
