Christmas ist always the time for me to learn new skills, to try to figure out a couple of things that I didn’t manage over the course of the year. I am trying to achieve something very simple: adding three data elements to my components: Supplier, weight & article-number. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup/classifying-objects#create-file because I first thought this might be the way to go - but the more I read about it the more I am wondering: is this the right way to go? Do I really need to build an entirely own XML File, rezip it, etc. just to get these three data types into my components?

The way to go could be by adding a few attributes in the dynamic component attributes panel and they would show up in the DC options panel.
There are some interesting developments in the 3D Warehouse, where you can now add and edit attributes to ‘product’ models, but they won’t show in SketchUp itself, yet.

That’s where you define, you can choose to display them in Options panel by checking ‘Users can see’ option when tou click on the little detail button.
