5D+ Plus - Flexible Documentation For Architects

If you joined the testing phase and used testing versions. You need to click all reset buttons in Custom Settings to make the official version works properly.

Has the manual been updated to the latest version and features?

No, it has not been updated yet.

Hi @Cyentruk
After (probably) updating the 5D+, the details in the Building information disappeared, although the information is updating correctly in the Level Grid section. Should I save it before updating the 5D+ or what is the procedure ? (red)
2. In 2d Grid Level how can I manipulate the written information?. in 2d Grid level model, the Curic text tool sees the regular text (Hello), I can’t modify its parametersI If I want the text to write only numbers (without the floor name) how do I do it? (green)
3. Please consider the Clipping mask should also cover Curic Section lines. Is it possible to find another plane between the real section and the Curic section to put this clipping mask on? (blue)

Thanks

You can try to reset the Bulding Information, or can try to update to the latest. I recommend update to the latest.

Currently, the storey name cannot remove. To modify the text for the better look, from the component file, you can edit the text “Hello” to the text it will be displayed for an example storey, such as:
Etaj 1
+3.900

Then using Curic Single Line Text parameters to adjust it position to the right place.

Although you can still use your custom files for labels and grids in the new version but I recommend to download the latest Samples Folder, where I had change the entire component files for a larger font size (and shape) especially the files for Section mark, which you can refer to customise yours to be able to rotate letters in the right directions.

The section lines you’re referring to are default SketchUp section lines, which are automatically created by the section plane. Since they are tied to the section plane’s position, it’s not possible to completely make them disappear, except by adjusting their color, which isn’t a full solution.

Sorry about that, I only upgraded to 5D+ once; it looks like I had to do it again. Now everything is working properly.

At the moment I think I will delete the name from Building Info Storeys, and change the position of the text in the 2d Grid Level model. But in the future please consider the possibility of customizing these details as well

Update: ( You’re right! I turned off the Curic Section and these lines remained)
I’m referring to these lines. I thought they were Curic Section lines, however, I tried to play with the Z-index in the Curic Section, but these lines always remained. If in LO I can create a clipping mask to hide these lines, the bigger problem is that in the .dwg export I have to delete these extra lines manually.

Thanks

Those lines will only go away if you hide the terrain. They’re the section cut lines.

I’ve been bragging for years that users should be able to hide them in both sketchup and layout.

There’s an API command to hide them in Sketchup but Layout doesn’t honor it.

The usual way of hidding those is by having overlayed viewports. The viewport on top only carries the Section Cut Faces generated by Curic, view of the model gets below them and those lines get hidden by the curic section.

EDIT The ideal setup when using 5D+, in terms of presentation is to have 3 viewports:

1 - Assign a View Layer to the bottom viewport with a view of the model - Hide tags for Curic Section and 5D+
2 - Assign a Section layer to Isolated Curic Section - Hide the building and 5D+ tags, and show only curic tags
3 - Assign a Symbols Layer to the isolated 5D+ tags - Hide the building and curic section tags.

In Layout Symbols Layer goes on top of the Section layer that goes on top of the View Layer.

Thanks, I noted this.

This is a limit of the clipping mask “trick”.

Why don’t you just hide the object (or lines if you don’t want to have it displayed in LO/DWG export?
If you want your terrain to appear in one part of the drawing but not on the other then you can cut divide the terrain in two parts and only show parts that you want…

If we can control to hide the SketchUp section lines by API will be better, but can’t.

I hid the group behind, the Curic S lines out of the Clipping mask still remained

That’s way too complicated, I’d better create an LO Clipping mask

It’s a good idea, but there are different situations.
E.g.: I can’t hide the terrain because it’s visible on the 2nd plan. To cut the terrain horizontally and vertically and manipulate with it, again it’s too complicated.

In my case, I think the LO clipping mask is the best solution. Thanks for your contribution

If you are creating a clipping mask in Layout, why would you setup custom bonds then?

That clipping mask will hide away auto axis, section labels and all that info won’t be retrievable, defeating the purpose of creating the custom bonds’ clipping mask.

You can using the name for both type of storeys like the names I marked as the image. Then press + button for each type.

This still creates a space on the Tag name. “Piso” means “Floor”

Here are the auto generated tags

I have edited post with another image.

I’d keep the 5D+ Clipping mask for .dwg export.

LO Clipping mask won’t be rectangular. I’ll bypass the information I want to keep. A better solution, until I cannot see

Ah, you mean tag name, not the Storey name.
Yes, I add a space between name and the increment numbers following the name.

But you don’t add the exact name of the floor we have setup in Building Information.

Also, that info is going to be used in 5D+ Tags and Scenes, but with a lot of prefixes. It gets wierd and I can’t find a way to simplify stuff

I saw you created a new topic about ifc, but placing the questions here seemed more logical.
How do you classify ifc? With the basic SU tool or do you use other extensions? How well does 5D+ handle classification, is it able to auto-classify ifc automatically without manual adjustment?
Thanks!

The name in Buidling Infomation is just the name of Storeys Level, not the name of the tag. The main name of the tag can be defined in Buidling Storeys in Classifications from Custom Settings.

This is the flow:

  • (1) uses rule from (2) to create tags.
  • The classification overlay uses rule from (3) to display text for easier reading with friendly name/ instead using tag name.
