256 mb STL file will not open

On my Windows 10 with Sketchup Pro, it wont open a 256mb STL file. It crashes. How can this be opened?

256MB is huge! An .stl file contains only edges and faces, there must be millions of them…
I know there are extensions that can simplify/reduce geometry but never used one and even don’t know if they work with stl files…
You could upload your file here and see if anyone is able to open it…
Also update your forum profile with relevant information, it helps you get the right answers faster…

Are you using a correct import unit? The issue might arise from too many faces failing to be created due to their tiny size. Also, is the Delete Coplanar Edges box activated?
