In 2025 I had a problem windows 10 with repositioning/zooming/scaling. I believe I was advised to turn off DirectX 12.
Is that also true in 2026?
I upgraded my system to Win 11, and I have Sketchup Pro 2026. it’s doing the same thing.
Holding down the middle mouse button to reposition, scale or zoom will cause an out of control spin zoom-in.
You cannot turn off DirectX as it’s built into Windows. What I think you mean is that you were advised to switch SketchUp back to using the Classic OpenGL engine.
- Window (menu) > Preferences (dialog) > Graphics (panel)
Also, make sure that the GPU in SketchUp’s Graphics panel is set to use the Nvidia Card that the display that you use SketchUp on is plugged into.
I (personally) have found that recent SketchUp releases using Qt GUI libraries works best on the Primary (main) display (as set in Windows settings.).
We can say that SketchUp 2026 also allows a choice between the Classic OpenGL engine or the new engine that uses DirectX calls.
This (to me) sounds more like a mouse issue. Do you have mouse control software that allows changing the function of the middle mouse button? If so, you can see if it was changed to something other than “Middle Mouse Button” and change it back.
But … if this was the case, we would think you would have the same issue with the Classic OpenGL engine.
I would suggest updated your graphics driver direct from Nvidia Experience App to the latest Studio driver.
