2025 inference locking/down arrow strange behavior

Still trying to get used to the Pro 2025 interface. Have CAD experience some time ago. Appreciate any help with this. Searched help page for “down arrow” and just returned random results.

Going through the tutorials on Campus and the inference locking section seems to be lacking or I am doing something wrong.

Drawing a line, it seems that once I hover over an inference point it seems to remember it indefinitely. And others. Then if I “down arrow” lock to a line it also goes into the cache of previously inferred and potentially inferred geometry - pretty soon when I go to draw a NEW line I’ve got bunches of points and lines blinking.

Additionally the function of the down arrow doesn’t seem to be consistent with the tutorial. sometimes it “magentas” a parallel (or perpendicular) edge without even hitting the down arrow!

In close quarters this gets marginally unusable.

Anyway to forget these remembered inferences? also any idea where to find a more up-to-date tutorial on the down arrow inference locking?

thanks again

.

first, start your line. or face.

second, bring your cursor to the other line or face you want to create an inference with. leave your cursor there for a few seconds.

breathe in. breathe out.

now if you press the down arrow, it’ll inference to it. press it another time to switch between parallel and perpendicular.

inferences are delicate, you need to let them time to appear. and yeah, in close quarters, they can be tricky, because off course there is a lot of stuff to infer to.

That looks like a great reference. I failed to find that in the help system. Good detail on inferences I will study that

thank you very much

Oh and looks like another set of tutorials but this time from SketchUp as well. Looks good again thanks

I found this from SketchUp very helpful. It dramatically reduced the number of Guidelines I was using…
