2020/2021 Licence query

Hello,

I have a SU2020 Pro Licence on a Windows 7 PC, and I have just got a second PC with Windows 11.

I was looking at activating SU2021 Pro with the Licence I received on maintenance, but will this stop my SU2020 from working on the Win7 PC?

These are my home PCs used for hobby work, and unfortunately I can’t migrate all of my old programs to the new PC, so currently I’m stuck needing both until I update my workflow.

One such program is Twilight Render V2 Pro, but I’m looking at Rayscaper now, which, according to the system requirements on their website, needs at least SU2021 to run, but maybe that’s for another topic.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you have separate codes for 2020 and 2021, then those have separate activations . Doing one does not affect the other

Thank you, Adam, for a speedy reply.

That’s great news. It was a bit confusing when I tried searching for the answer.

If you can get Rayscaper working in 2021 on the second PC, it should work on the first PC, and you have a spare activation to update that one to 2021.

Ah, that’s interesting, Colin. I always had the impression that SU2021 wasn’t stable on Win7, but I’ll look at updating that, or perhaps I might just use the other seat on my Surface Pro tablet.

Regarding Rayscaper, unfortunately I am getting Load Errors, so I’m guessing the website System Requirements | Rayscaper might be out of date? @pixelcruncher The Rayscaper | SketchUcation listing states v2024 and above, so I’m not completely surprised there were errors.

Rayscaper does look like it could be a successor to Twlight Render though, especially when it gets Animator compatibility!

@Tomdubbs1

I’m sorry about that! System Requirements | Rayscaper - is out of date. Currently, Rayscaper is supported on 2026, 2025, and 2024. Do you have the need for older versions, or can you upgrade to give it a try?

That’s what I’m aiming for.

No worries, Thomas. Thank you for confirming that.

I don’t currently have access to any later versions of SketchUp, but if you could direct me to an older version of Rayscaper for SU2021 that would be great.

From what I have seen of Rayscaper so far, it looks highly functional, and nicely polished too. Keep up the awesome work.
