2 solids combined to make a non-solid

Hi, I have an issue where when I try to combine 2 solids the make a group that is then not classified as a solid.

I’ve uploaded the file - what I’m trying to do is first combine the group labelled ‘combine’ with group ‘terrain’, then subtract the ‘subtract’ group, from its outcome. Which ever I do first the outcome is not classified as a solid. Any help much appreciated.
